The International Press Institute is an independent non-governmental organisation dedicated to freedom of the press. IPI is funded by members; media people who share our belief that press freedom is a cornerstone of any democracy.
Three types of IPI membership are available:

Full Membership
Open to editors and media executives. Carries voting rights at the Annual General Assembly.
Annual fee: EUR € 600

Associate Membership
Open to media-related institutes, organisations and academics. Carries no voting rights.
Annual fee: Individual -- EUR € 300

IPI Leading Journalists Group
Open to heads of media departments, bureau chiefs, correspondents and journalists. Carries no voting rights.
Annual fee: EUR € 150

Retired members may, upon written application, enjoy a 50% discount. Potential members from developing nations may apply for their membership to be paid under the Press Freedom Fund.

All IPI members enjoy:

  • a free subscription of the quarterly "IPI Global Journalist", the international journalism magazine, which monitors media developments and analyses many facets of the profession.
  • a free copy of the annual "World Press Freedom Review", the leading international survey of the state of press freedom world-wide.

  • all research publications provide`d at no extra charge
  • access to the IPI archives and library
  • invitations to regular media-related conferences and seminars.
  • special hotel rates during all IPI conferences
